Vienna, 02 March 2010 - According to Statistics Austria approximately 5.34 million persons living in Austria aged 15 years and over (76.1% of the population aged 15 years and over), made around 17.20 million holiday trips in the year 2009, which corresponds to an increase in holiday trips of 11.5% compared with the previous year. This increase is mainly due to short holiday trips (with one to three nights spent), which increased by 15.4%.

A total of 1.14 persons living in Austria aged 15 years and over (16.2% of the population aged 15 years and over) undertook 4.10 million business trips, which corresponds to a decrease of 11.9% compared with the previous year.
