Services enterprises and wholesale trade highly affected by economic crisis – with an increase of turnover by 1.1% in retail trade consumer demand remains stable
Vienna, 8 March 2010 – Based on results for 2009, turnover of Austrian services enterprises at nominal values fell by 4.7% compared to the year before. Turnover in wholesale trade at nominal values fell by 9.5% and sales by 2.7%, compared to the year 2008.
On the contrary, turnover in retail trade at nominal values increased by 1.1% and sales by 1.4%. Important for this development in retail trade was the good result in retail trade with food.
Results of short term statistics for trade and services show a decrease in number of persons employed by 1.2% for trade and 2.3% for services.
