Due to technical reasons the safety note looks different sometimes. You still can trust the programm and use ISIS as usual. If you mark the checkbox for „Inhalten dieses Urhebers immer vertrauen“ you will trust for every next session. If you klick on „Ausführen“ you trust just for this one session. If you klick on „Abbrechen“ following note is shown.
It says „Sorry, but you did not grant permission to this program. You can not copy any content to your computer using the clipboard. You can not use the file output and you can not print any shown data. This program is protected against forbidden modification with code-signing-certificate from Thawte. To grant permission you must restart your internet browser“.
To safeguard full functionality of the ISIS database pages we recommend the deactivation of the pop-up blocker with regard to the Statistics Austria website.
Please proceed as follows:
The Java applet is a program which will be downloaded to your computer to enable work with the graphical user interface of the ISIS database.
For a successful operation, the Java applet requires a so-called Java plug-in. On the occasion of the first click on the link Zugang mit gesicherter bzw. normaler Verbindung (secure or normal access), this Java plug-in is downloaded and installed if not available already.
With this kind of access encoded data (SSL safeguarded) are transmitted.
If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer you receive the following information after clicking on the link towards safe access:
To work with IsisGUI you may click on Ja (accept) as well as on Nein (refuse), in both cases a working connection will be installed.
Please check with your webmaster whether a proxy server is installed to connect you to the Internet or if the firewall software has locked the port.
| message | possible cause |
|---|---|
| Connection
refused... or Operation timed out ... | The applet is not authorized to contact Statistics Austria via the TCP/IP address(es) displayed in the error message. Please consult your network administrator. |
| Timeout... | A connection was not possible within the given standby time. |
| Unknown address | The TCP/IP address displayed in the error message is unknown. |
| Server no reply... | No connection could be built up with the Statistics Austria system. |
| Applet without authorization... | The applet runs in the "sandbox" and cannot build a connection to this TCP/IP address for safety reasons. |
Please consult the online help of the graphical user interface.
Automated login stops whenever an unknown screen pops up. This may be the case if you have stored a personal login procedure for your user (login screen "Command==> mylogin").
Please continue the procedure (e.g., by means of ENTER button or F3 button) until you will have arrived within the ISPF main menu or the READY status. These screens will be recognized by the program and login will be continued.
If you cannot solve the problem this way please contact the technical support (isis.helpdesk@statistik.gv.at).
The guest mode provides the graphical user interface free-of-charge. This version offers restricted functions, only, and data limited with regard to structural depth and scope. For more detailed information please read the online help.
An information window "... not available" will be displayed. The guest mode (see previous chapter) presents data only which are restricted with regard to structural depth and scope.
In this case, we recommend having a look into the respective commentary for the officer in charge to inquire whether the desired information is available, at all. If this is the case you may receive the information against payment either as a registered user or from the General Information Service.
The standard TCP/IP addresses the applet tries to connect three consecutive times each are
The applet requires one of the specified addresses, only.
The user may change the address to which the applet sets up a connection under login/options >>.
If access does not succeed (error message) it may be necessary to enter the HTTP proxy server used under HTTP protocol.
The applet runs in the "sandbox", which is why it is not possible to copy data into the clipboard.
The applet (program) was signed to guarantee the provenance of this program from "Federal Institute Statistics Austria" (STATISTICS AUSTRIA).
This message appears when the safety position of the Microsoft Internet Explorer (from version 4.x onward) for "ActiveX-Steuerelemente und Plugins ausführen" (run activeX components and plug-ins) is on "Deaktivieren" (deactivate).
The following safety positions (Ansicht/Internetoptionen/Sicherheit) (view/Internet options/safety) permit an access to the graphical user interface:
Due to a bug occurring in the Java plug-in of the company Sun Microsystems, neither the path to the user profile nor the user name must contain an exclamation mark ("!").
Some graphics cards present colours incorrectly when a 256 colour set-up is combined with a Java (TM) plug-in.
The problem should be solved by an increase in colours within the set-up of the graphics card.
A change in the ISIS output currency solely affects data newly queried from the database. Data already downloaded in a currency are not altered.
In principle, all results containing currency are displayed, independent of the standard currency chosen.
Only the output of a query activates the currency adjustment.
| Search for | Result of search |
|---|---|
| words starting with EURO | Result: all segments containing currencies, criteria and parameters existing within the database. This means the result of search also displays all segments containing the currency ATS (and vice versa). |
As an external user, you are entitled to run a query on the costs of sessions transacted during current or past quarter by means of the button KOSTEN (fees charged) in the window "online Dienste" (online services).
As cost allocation is effected on the basis of segments addressed we recommend considering this circumstance during specification. You will find a number of respective examples in the ISIS online help.
In case of queries on segments containing data from samples surveys only those data are supplied where the sample error remains under a predetermined limit. Otherwise "STP" is output. If you change over to user group 4 (unfiltered external users) in menu Einstellungen/Benutzerklasse ändern (set-up/change user group) this filtering is cancelled.
If you have opened many applications at the same time this will prolong response times, which is why we recommend closing not required applications. If this should produce no noticeable improvements the reason may also be an extreme capacity utilisation of the host or a negative impact of the speed of your Internet access on response time.
For security technical reasons and to regulate the efficiency of the system, the automatic timeout has been fixed to 1 hour.
This means that, whenever there is no exchange of data your session will be terminated by the server of Statistics Austria after 1 hour.
If you are using the Netscape navigator or the communicator the text on screen and/or on the printout will be presented inaccurately depending on the version of the browser. For a correct presentation, the following steps are necessary:
