Prices, taxes
Surveys conducted by Statistics Austria, such as Material Input Statistics constitute an important pool of data for Austria’s international reporting obligations to the International Energy Agency (IEA). They form the basis for the energy price index that is calculated and published by the IEA. In addition to Statistics Austria, other institutions such as the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (transport fuels) and E-Control (natural gas and electric power) collect data on prices and taxes (energy taxes, emergency stock fees) for international price reporting to Eurostat and the IEA. Preliminary results for the previous year are published in March, final results are published in December.
