Overall, 347 884 new motor vehicles were registered during first eleven months of this year, 8.4% more than in the corresponding period last year. But this figure is still 14.9% below the new motor vehicle registrations in 2019.
November 2021: 12.6% fewer new passenger car registrations than in November 2020; one fifth all-electric passenger cars
A total of 22 744 new motor vehicle registrations were registered in November 2021, by 12.4% below the value of November 2020, while the number of newly registered passenger cars was 17 519, by 12.6% fewer than in November 2020. The share of all-electric passenger cars (BEV) reached 20.0% in November 2021. Overall, the share of alternatively powered passenger cars was 43.1%, well ahead of petrol-powered passenger cars (share: 32.4%) and diesel-powered passenger cars (share: 24.5%).

on methods, definitions: Motor vehicle statistics (registrations
of new and used vehicles as well as the stock of vehicles) are secondary
statistics, compiled on the basis of daily data files sent to Statistics
Austria by Austria’s association of insurance companies (VVO). VVO,
in turn, receives data by the insurances’ registrations offices, responsible
for registrations, de-registrations and rectifications of motor vehicles
and trailers.
Within motor vehicle statistics, all motor vehicles, once nationally
or internationally registered, are levied, irrespective of the registration’s
duration.
