According to ILO definitions a person is considered to be employed if he or she works for at least one hour during reference week, or does not work due to holiday, illness, etc. but normally is in employment. Persons on long-term absence as e.g. women on parental leave are included in the category of the employed if they have a formal attachment to the job.
