This page contains the Austrian life tables since 1868/71; it also features selected demographic indicators that provide a comprehensive, at-a-glance description of the demographic situation in Austria.

Life tables

The period life tables shown here reflect the mortality ratios for any given year or period, by age and gender. Various life table functions are calculated based on age-specific death probabilities; age-adjusted life expectancy is the most important of these functions.

Demographic indicators

Measures of central tendency and proportions for describing demographic processes are illustrated here. Featured here are indicators on

• fertility, birth trends and the number of children,
• mortality and life expectancy (incl. infant mortality), and
• marriages and divorces
