Registered Partnerships

Since 1 January 2010 a law on registered partnerships (Eingetragene Partnerschaft-Gesetz – EPG) offers the possibility for same-sex couples to establish a registered partnership with mutual rights and duties. The law is restricted to same-sex couples. Both partners have to be of full age, not closely related to each other, unmarried and not already living in a registered partnership.
