Pension beneficiaries
In 2010, 1 311 303 women and 1 083 777 men received at least one pension according to the European system of integrated social protection statistics (ESSPROS). Compared to the previous year the circle of beneficiaries rose by 2.3% to 2 395 080. Most beneficiaries are in respect of the old age function (1 731 995). The number of persons receiving a pension benefit in survivors’ function amounted to 627 142. Under unemployment function, the number of pensioners increased by 10.8% in 2010. Persons who are beneficiary of different pension benefits at the same time (e.g. old age as well as survivors’ pension) are covered by each relevant function. However, in the total amount they are just counted once.
