Freight and Postal Transport

Within 312 502 flight movements in commercial aviation (scheduled and non-scheduled transport), which were reported in 2011, a decrease of 2.5% compared to the preceding year, a total of 227 938 tons (t) (-7.3%) of freight and 13 551 t (+8.4%) of mail were transported via the six Austrian international airports (including transit).

The total freight volume (excluding transit) of 206 526 t (-18 358 t or -8.2%) was lower than in the previous year; transit transport ascended from 21 060 t in 2010 to 21 412 t (+352 t or +1.7%) in 2011. Also the volume of transported air mail (excluding transit) of 13 550 t (+1 057 t or +8.5%) was higher than in 2010; in transit transport there was a decrease of 1.6 t (-61.7%) ,compared with 2010 to a total of 1.0 t in 2011.
