Demographic analyses provide information about the demographical structure (age, sex, marital status, nationality) of the population. Those so-called demographic characteristics are not only of interest for general population analyses – for example the age distribution, but are also used for analyses of the social and economical structure (labour participation grouped by sex, age, etc.) of the population.
